Find your state senator, keep an eye on proposed laws, follow bills through the committee process to voting by the Senate, link to Florida Statutes and the Florida Constitution, or share your ideas on how best to carry out the will of the citizens of Florida in mandating the creation of “fair” legislative voting districts. http://www.flsenate.gov/ The Florida House of Representatives site, which also lets you easily find your representative, track bills through the committee and voting process, and even watch the legislative session live (if you can endure it). Both sites have great search features!
The Florida Department of Financial Services (“DFS”), which is broken into various “divisions”, is run by the State Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Jeff Atwater, and includes the Division of Agent And Agency Services, which oversees insurance adjuster and agent licensing requirements and compliance. The DFS Division of Consumer Services provides information to the public regarding insurance fraud and consumer protection efforts. Check it out! The whole DFS site is an excellent source of information for consumers and insurance professionals. (Have you ever wondered if the State of Florida is holding unclaimed property that you may own or have a right to claim? Search FLTreasurehunt.org, part of the Division of Accounting and Auditing of the DFS.)
Search by topic the Florida DFS "Insurance Library". Get information on any general insurance law or regulation issue. A-Z, easy to use reference source. Rated "Excellent", "four stars" by insurance professionals.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Florida Highway Patrol (“FHP”) provides up to date traffic accident information by county. Use the county dropdown and “enter”. Check this out before you make that long trek to Orlando, Miami or Jacksonville. It’s unfortunate the FHP doesn’t also provide up to date speed trap or wolf pack information.
